Newman's Thrftway To Become Russ's Market
Lincoln, Neb.-based B&R Stores is acquiring the Newman’s Thriftway grocery store in Glenwood from longtime grocer Dan Newman, who is retiring next month. The transaction was expected to close in mid-November.
The store, located at 900 S. Locust. St., will be converted to a Russ’s Market. B&R operates several banners aside from Russ’s Market, including Super Saver and Apple Market. The Glenwood store will be the 20th location for the company.
“Twenty years ago, we had the opportunity to purchase the store at 900 South Locust St.,” Newman, president and co-Owner of Newman’s Thriftway, said. “It has been a challenging and rewarding venture for our family. We are excited for our next chapter in life and we are grateful for the patronage we have received over the years.
“We are confident that passing the reins of the store to B&R Stores will be an exceptional asset to the Glenwood Community.”
