$1.7 million awarded to Iowa communities for infrastructure projects
(Des Moines, IA) – Awards totaling $1.7 million were announced for four communities across Iowa. The Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) awarded the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to support community water and sewer infrastructure projects.
IEDA received seven applications totaling $3.1 million in funding requests. The grants are awarded based upon benefit to low- and moderate-income persons, financial need, project impact and readiness and commitment of local resources to the project.
“These funds are instrumental in terms of helping communities invest in their infrastructure,” said Debi Durham, director of the IEDA. “Improvements and enhancements such as these contribute to a community’s quality of life and ability to attract new investment.”
