Malvern Main Street Revitalization!
Wednesday, March 29, 2017
Malvern’s historic downtown has spent the last 2 years working on a downtown façade improvement project which encompasses 19 facades and had a budget of over $1 million dollars. Grants were received through the Iowa Economic Development Authority’s CDBG program, Iowa DNR, Iowa West Foundation, and the Mills County Community Foundation. Local match was provided by the City of Malvern and the respective building owners. Buildings in the project had various work done to them, including tuck pointing, painting, woodwork, windows, and awnings. Partners with the project include Southwest Iowa Planning Council (SWIPCO), Pinnacle Construction of Glenwood, Franks Design Group of Glenwood, Malvern Area Betterment Association (MABA), Malvern Trust & Savings Bank. Local project managers were Kate McGann and Fred Moreau with the Malvern City Council.
